What are the best ingredients for anti-aging to look for in my skincare regimen?
Your daily anti-aging regimen should include
• Retinol
• Hyaluronic acid
• Peptides
• Vitamin E
• SPF
Retinol is a powerful antioxidant that fights free radicals and reduces the signs of aging. Retinoids are derivatives of Vitamin A. It’s a form of vitamin A that, when in concentrations of 0.25 percent or higher, can increase cell turnover, helping to improve skin texture, fine lines, and brown spots; you want to apply this to cleansed skin before your moisturizer.
Hyaluronic acid is one of the main contributors to keeping your skin supple and hydrated. It can hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water, is naturally found in your body, and can be used as a natural alternative to synthetic fillers; for maximum anti-aging effects, use topical hyaluronic acid twice daily (day and night).
Peptides are amino acids that help increase the production of natural collagen and elastin, essential building blocks for youthful-looking skin. Strengthening the skin’s dermal matrix helps smooth the look of lines and wrinkles and helps the skin look and feel firmer.
Vit E is another antioxidant that helps fight fine lines and wrinkles, especially those caused by pollution in the air and UV rays. Your body can not naturally produce vit E, so it is essential to get it from a skin product. It reduces inflammation and helps you to maintain healthy and youthful skin.
But, of all the ingredients out there, there’s one thing your facial moisturizer really needs. Three letters: S-P-F.
Sunscreen is the single best thing we can do for our skin daily, no matter what color your complexion is and no matter if your skin tends to “burn” from sun exposure. Up to 90 percent of signs of aging, like brown spots and wrinkles, which occur due to the sun’s UV rays, and SPF helps protect our skin from this UV damage, which can also cause more serious conditions like skin cancer.
My personal skin care regimen includes a serum that contains retinol, hyaluronic acid, and peptides. Followed by moisturizing with a moisturizer that contains SPF mixed with vitamin E. It is also important to mention that you should not use more than one product containing retinol; too much retinol may cause dryness, redness, and irritation.
